A late night paranormal investigation organised by local residents has raised a number of unexpected questions after a ghost hunting expedition around Raunds reportedly ended with what one participant described as “something that definitely wasn’t part of the plan”

From Facebook Post to Full Investigation

The investigation began after a post appeared in a local Facebook group asking whether anyone would be interested in ghosts, hauntings or joining a paranormal investigation.

Interest in the idea was immediate.

Within a short time the post had reached more than 8,500 people and attracted almost a hundred comments from residents keen to take part.

Many simply replied “Yes”, while others were more enthusiastic.

One resident wrote “100% I’d be more than up for this”, while another commented “Yes definitely interested please let me know more details”.

    Some began recruiting friends.

“Pete McCallister you’re coming too!” one commenter wrote, while another said they would be attending along with “my boyfriend and his friend”.

Others appeared confident that paranormal activity might already exist locally.

“I see and hear spirits,” one resident claimed.

Another suggested the town becomes more active late at night, writing “Plenty around in the small hours around here hoping not to be seen ha ha”.

    Not everyone was convinced.

One resident said they would attend only “depending on the details”, while another described themselves as a sceptic but said they would still be happy to join in order to “offer a different point of view”.

At least one commenter declined entirely, replying simply “No, because im not mad”.

    The Investigation Begins

Despite the mixture of enthusiasm and scepticism, a small group of volunteers eventually arranged to meet after dark to conduct their investigation.

The evening reportedly began at Raunds Cemetery, where investigators walked slowly between the gravestones using torches and mobile phone cameras while listening for unusual sounds.

It was here that the group made its first unexpected discovery.

Scattered along one of the paths investigators noticed several pieces of what appeared to be broken digestive biscuits.

“At first we assumed someone had just dropped them,” one participant said.

“But then we kept finding more.”

The discovery was initially dismissed as coincidence, although one resident admitted it seemed “a slightly unusual snack to leave scattered around a cemetery”.

    Following the Trail

After around twenty minutes the investigation moved on to the open play field at Amos Lawrence Park, where several members attempted to use a handheld device designed to detect changes in electromagnetic fields.

The device briefly produced a reading, although investigators later realised someone was standing next to it with a mobile phone in their pocket.

It was during this stage of the evening that investigators again noticed fragments of digestive biscuits nearby.

“Someone pointed out that there were more of them near the benches,” one resident explained.

“At that point people started joking that we might be following a trail.”

The group then continued the investigation toward the farmland behind Darcy Park, where a narrow path leads across several fields before reaching a small section of woodland.

Several participants described the area as “the sort of place that becomes slightly unsettling once it gets properly dark”.

By this point the biscuit sightings had become difficult to ignore.

“There were definitely more of them,” one participant said.

“Not a full packet or anything. Just pieces. Like something had been dropping them.”

    The ‘Puppet’ Sighting

It was in this wooded area that the investigation reportedly took its strangest turn.

According to witnesses, several members of the group heard rustling noises coming from the trees before one investigator claimed to have seen what they described as “a small glowing shape”.

“At first I thought it was someone from our group walking ahead,” one resident said.

“But when I looked back everyone was standing behind me.”

Another participant said the figure appeared briefly before disappearing.

“The only way I can describe it is that it looked like a puppet.”

The sighting lasted only a few seconds and none of the investigators were able to capture a clear photograph.

However several participants later pointed out that the final pieces of digestive biscuit appeared to stop exactly where the sighting occurred.

“We came out looking for ghosts,” one resident said.

“We were not expecting to follow a trail of biscuits to a puppet.”

    Emergency Sausage Roll Break

The investigation paused shortly afterwards as several participants admitted they were becoming increasingly hungry.

The group returned toward the town and made a brief stop at the Spar, where multiple investigators purchased Greggs sausage rolls.

According to those present the break significantly improved morale.

“Everything feels a lot less paranormal when you’re standing outside the Spar eating a sausage roll,” one resident explained.

    Expert Reaction

Although the evening ended without definitive proof of paranormal activity, the strange events have continued to spark discussion among those involved.

Local paranormal enthusiast Dr Barry Specter described the report as “highly unusual”.

“In most documented hauntings, apparitions resemble human figures,” he said.

“The idea of a ghost that also appears to leave a trail of digestive biscuits is not something I have encountered before.”

Some residents have speculated that the sighting may somehow be connected to other unusual puppet related discussions that have recently appeared online, although investigators have not been able to confirm any link.

    What Happens Next?

Participants say they may return to the area later this week to continue their investigation.

Residents encountering any glowing puppet shaped figures near Raunds Cemetery, Amos Lawrence Park or the woodland behind Darcy Park are advised not to panic.

Experts say the best course of action is simply to remain calm and continue walking.

Preferably in the direction of the nearest sausage roll.

Investigators have also asked anyone discovering unexplained trails of digestive biscuits around the town to report their findings.

Further updates will follow if the situation becomes any stranger.
